It definitely is beginning to get busy again. Emma has been to 2 gymnastics classes and really seems to be enjoying it. The class has about 10-15 kids who rotate to various pieces of equipment for an hour. Alex has had 3 piano lessons and loves it. The teacher has given him several short songs to learn each week and he hasn't had any trouble. Last week, he got bored and went ahead in the book to the next song. I'm so excited for him. This morning Alex tried out for the school choir. The choir has about 50 3rd-5th graders and sings several performances during the year. The music teacher said at this age she just wants to see if they can hear the pitch. She said he did great. He'll find out tomorrow if he made it. Baseball starts in about a week also.
Benjamin is just as busy as ever. He is getting closer and closer to walking. He does well walking while holding hands and can do it while holding only one hand. Sean got him to stand unaided for a few seconds over the week-end. On the first day of school last week, Benjamin seemed determined to keep me busy. He pulled all the tissues out of a box and then proceeded to try eating 2 crayons. The crayons were washable so he had black crayon mess all over his chin. I continually discover crayon under the table, behind the refrigerator, etc.
Benjamin has become a big fan of his sandals. Whenever we tell him it is time to go somewhere, he crawls as fast as he can to the shoe closet. Then he yells until the door is opened so he can get his sandals. One day, I tried to leave without putting on his shoes and he had an absolute meltdown. Pretty crazy for someone who can't walk yet. The great thing is that he is just as interested in putting them away. He is better than his brother and sister at making sure his shoes go in the closet when he gets home.
Over the week-end, Alex and I went to a Round Rock Express AAA baseball game with 2 of his friends. The boys were pretty good at the game, but the car ride was something else. Whew! They were so wound up even at 10 p.m. on the way home. We sat in the grassy area behind left field. The boys watched a little of the game and spent a lot of time catching crickets and other bugs. One of the boys spent the night after the game. Emma spent the night with Grandma Mindy so I figured Alex's friend could sleep in Emma's bed. He still insisted on sleeping in his sleeping bag on the floor even though we had changed the sheets and they weren't even pink.
Monday evening we visited with some friends that I used to work with at EY. Alex was in heaven because they had a mini pool table/air hockey table. Emma seemed a little under the weather and was pretty quiet most of the night. I told Sean that I figured she would be up sometime during the night. Sure enough, she came in at 4:30 with an upset tummy. She stayed home yesterday so no perfect attendance for her this year. Oh well...
Last, but not least, here are the results of the battle between Benjamin and an Oreo. We think the Oreo won!!!

Whoa, I would agree that Benjamin definitely lost the battle with the oreo. I love the 2nd picture that shows some of the creme on his forehead. That is so funny!
Wow, Alex is becoming quite the little musician. I hope he keeps up one of his new found talents/interests.
Are the sandals Benjamin loves the squeaky ones like cousin George has? That's good that he is excited about wearing shoes. Love, Dude
Uncle Mojo's comments were:
How does that happen?
He looks like a coal miner!
What is that? -refering to the cream on his forehead
PS. Funny how I spelled cream in my comment, above!
Uncle Mojo, hopefully you will learn how that happens someday!
Oreos have got to be the messiest kid food ever. Great pictures, too funny!
Holy messy face! The walking is exciting! I miss the Round Rock Express!
