Lots of appointments

It's been a busy week around here with appointments. Benjamin had to have his blood redrawn on Monday since the doctor called and said something was wrong with the previous sample. That wouldn't have been so bad, but it took over an hour and a half to get it done, plus Benjamin remembered the process from last week and started yelling as soon as they put the strap on his arm. We went to Benjamin's kidney doctor this morning and got the results of his labs. Everything continues to be in pretty good shape for his level of kidney function. His numbers were all similar to his previous labs, so that means no adjustments to his various medications. Benjamin weighed 23 pounds (with clothes) and was 31.8" long. He is tracking right at the 10th percentile for length and just below the 10th for his weight. It is so nice to see him on the chart rather than off it. The doctor seemed pleased with his growth and his labs.

Right after the kidney doctor, we took Alex to the pediatrician. He woke up this morning with a sore throat and a headache. They did a rapid strep test and it was positive. The doctor gave Alex some antibiotic in the office just to get him started since Alex really wants to go to school tomorrow for the choir's first performance. When we asked the doctor if he could go, he said usually if the kids get their first dose of meds by about noon the day before, then they're ready for school the next day. We'll see how he's doing in the morning, but hopefully, he'll be feeling well enough.

We also have been dealing with Cubs fever in the household. The Chicago Cubs are in first place in their division right now. I'm sure there will be many anxious moments between now and the end of the month when the regular season ends. Sorry, Cardinals fans, but a 9 game losing streak near the end of the season didn't help the team in the standings (well, I guess it helped the Cubs)....

That's all I have for the moment. Have a great weekend! Hopefully, we'll hear Alex sing tomorrow!
