Baseball time!

Go Cubs!!! They made it into the play-offs for the first time since 2003. Let's hope they have better luck than they did the last time. The first game is on Wednesday.

Alex had his first game this weekend. It was a hot one, that's for sure! It was around 93 degrees at game time, so the parents all huddled in the shade. He got two hits (granted, one went throught the first baseman's legs and the other bounced out of the second baseman's glove), drove in some runs and had a great time. He also pitched 1 1/3 innings. He struck out 4, walked 2 and no one got a hit. It was the first time he's ever pitched. It took some getting used to the mound, but he said he wasn't nervous.

Benjamin is a little under the weather this morning. He woke up with a 101 degree fever. We just got back from the doctor who said it's probably just a virus. He checked Benjamin for strep since Alex just had it, but that wasn't it. He has a cough and runny nose, also. Right now he's sleeping. That's the best thing for him.

We're reading Because of Winn-Dixie to Emma before bed. The book is about a lonely 10 year old girl who adopts a stray dog and names him Winn-Dixie after she rescues him at the grocery story. Last night, she cracked me up. We were talking about the dog's name which she thought was kind of odd. I told Emma it would be like her having a dog named H-E-B (our local grocery story). She giggled and then she said, "Or we could say, Here Wal-mart. Or Here Walgreens." She thought those would be pretty good names in the spirit of Winn-Dixie.

Wow, a lot has happened since we were on vacation last week. I really like the new background you added to the site! The weather here has been so warm it's hard to believe it is the 1st week of October.

Mom, would be horrified if you got a dog and named it Wal-mart, ugh. That's pretty funny though.

Go Cubbies! Joe is really looking forward to the game on Sunday( I'm sure Sean is too)...if there is one...I'm sure there will be! Joe is mad at the very late starts of the first 2 games in AZ, there will be a lot of tired Cubs fans this week!

I'm sorry to hear Benjamin is sick. I hope he feels better soon!

I love the new background on your page. Very pretty for fall! Ooo, Because of Winn-Dixie--I hadn't thought of that book, but that's a great next book for Annie. She just finished Summer of the Monkeys and is looking for another good read. I'll have to head to the library. I hope that Benjamin feels better soon. We'll be thinking of him. Take care.
