All about Benjamin

Benjamin has been busy this week going to doctors appointments. He saw his pediatrician yesterday for his 2 year old well check. The doctor was really impressed with Benjamin's growth. He weighs about 25 pounds with his clothes. That puts him between the 10th and 15th percentile in weight. At his 18 month check-up, he was at the third percentile. The doctor said if Benjamin had weighed 23 pounds at this check-up, he would have been at the 3rd percentile and the doc would have said good job. He is up to the 25th percentile for height, up from the 4th percentile. Meanwhile, his head is 90th percentile. I guess big headed kids run in the family. I still remember being measured for a graduation cap and they told me I had a big head. Also, Cousin Zack's head is off the charts.

He also had his nephrologist appointment this morning. His labs look as good as can be expected for someone with his kidney function. His various medications seem to be keeping the problem areas in check. When he had his blood drawn last week, he was incredible. He made one tiny fuss and wiggled just a little bit. Then, he just sat there and waited for them to be done. That is pretty amazing for a little boy who just turned two.

We also would like to share some of Benjamin's favorite activity. He LOVES his baseball tee. Sean says Benjamin is very demanding when Benjamin and Sean play together. Benjamin insists that Daddy wear a toy hard hat, makes him sit in a certain spot and puts Daddy is in charge of getting the balls. Meanwhile, Benjamin directs all the activity from his perch on the piano bench. He likes to sit up there to hit the ball. Maybe he gets a better angle for his swing. This morning, Benjamin went to work on a new kind of ball since his brother left it in the house last night after practice...

Ahh, we know about big heads in our family, too. When I gave my cap size for graduation, they told me I must have measured wrong. Nope. I just have a big head. Poor Spencer got my genetics, too. It's so we can hold lots of brains in there, right? :0)

I love the pictures. Take care and enjoy the Christmas season!

Looks like he's going to be a righty. The Hested grandkids need a big head to put all those brains in.
