Guess who Benjamin, Daddy and I met today? We got to shake hands with Jeff Bagwell, former first baseman for the Houston Astros, and Chris Sampson, pitcher for the Astros. The Astros general manager and broadcaster also came to say hi to the kids at the hospital. Too bad we didn't have our camera with us. We did get a couple Polaroids so maybe we'll take a picture of a picture. It was pretty neat and very gracious of the players to take time to make the kids (and parents) feel happier.
In other news, Benjamin is looking more like a regular kid today. His IV went bad this afternoon, so they took it out. Hopefully, he won't need another one, but we're not sure since the whole reason we're still here is so he can get IV antibiotics. The nurse is checking with the doctor to see if there are other options he would consider. They also removed the big catheter tube and bag. Now he has a bag strapped to his leg. That should be interesting considering it has a screw cap that he will probably figure out how to undo. We gave him a bath so he looks pretty handsome. Right now, he's playing ball with Grandma Mindy. He's smiling and laughing. He even stood up and played a little. That was the first time he stood in a week. He looked a little like a drunken sailor, but he was quite pleased to be on his feet.
Dr. Cortez said the plan still is to discharge him tomorrow assuming no other issues arise. It looks like he's ready to me considering his level of activity today. We'll all be so happy to be under one roof. Keep those thoughts and prayers coming!

What a nice surprise for the Astros players to stop by the hospital and lift up everyone's spirits for awhile. Hopefully everything goes on schedule and Benjamin can be discharged tomorrow. I am sure it has been a tough week and everyone just wants to get home. Take care and know we are thinking of your family. Tell Emma she did great for her first Girl Scout cookie weekend.
We can't wait to hear that you are at home!! How cool to meet the baseball players. Way to go Emma on the cookie sales.

Yea! Oh, I hope you really do get to go home tomorrow! We are thinking of you.
Cool, I bet Alex was kind of jealous of you guys and Benjamin meeting some Astros even if he is a Cubs fan. Way to go Emma on cookie sales. I wonder how many boxes you and Sean will have to buy at the end for her to reach her goal. Mom never did that for us! You should take her to Sean's class one day, I bet she could get quite a few sales from college students or other professors. I'm glad Benjamin is feeling better and will get to go home soon! Love, Aunt Dude
