We have settled back in to our home routine after vacation. The kids have been enjoying play dates and catching up on workbook sheets (well, not really enjoying that part). Last week, Alex attended baseball camp in the morning. He went with a friend from swim team and had a great time. Notice the absolute "nine-ness" in this picture! Practically every picture we have these days seems to have rabbit ears sneaking in...
Last weekend was the first weekend we didn't have anything scheduled since the summer began, so we went swimming with Grandma Mindy for a few hours at her apartment complex. Alex was really hoping someone would come out to play water volleyball, but no such luck. Benjamin enjoyed playing in the fountain section of the pool and called it the "baby pool". I managed to miss one spot on my leg when I put on sunscreen. That patch is still burned and painful. Sunscreen must really work! Alex and Emma both tried doing a few laps, but gave up after a while since the pool is probably less than half the length that they are used to.
Last week, Emma had a dental procedure that should help correct the large gap between her top teeth. The periodontist recommended that Emma be sedated for the procedure to help with anxiety, so we had to give her a pill beforehand. Wow, did it work. She was like a drunk little kid. During the drive to the periodontist's office, Emma was singing and pointing at everything. At one point, she claimed that the medicine wasn't working (I think she expected to be asleep). We were just laughing and said, "Oh, it's working alright!" otherwise she would have been crying the whole way there. Afterwards, her recovery was pretty swift. She was a little difficult to deal with for the first couple hours, but just fine after she got a milkshake for lunch. At one point, she started crying because she said the doctor put a big hole in her mouth. All in all, she seems to be healing just fine.
Not much else to report other than that...We bought school supplies already so we could beat the rush. Since Alex is going to be out of town until August 7th, we figured we better do it now. We didn't want to wait until everything is getting picked over. The kids have about 1 month left until they start back to school. It's coming up quickly!
