Big Doings...

Look out Mia Hamm...Here comes Emma Buckley! Emma had her first soccer game this weekend. Both teams were very evenly matched which was a nice way to start the season. Emma's team lost 3-2, although according to Emma at various times, her team tied or maybe even won. Amazingly, Emma scored both goals for her team. Before the game, she pronounced that she would jump right up if she fell down. She lived up to her statement by springing up after falling twice. She kept after that ball and went flying down the field. It was great fun to watch. She also said she would be exhausted after the game and she lived up to that as well due to the heat. Wow, was it hot, but the girls did great dealing with the heat and didn't really complain. Go Emma and the Pink Dragons!

On Sunday, Emma's Brownie troop participated in the Keep Austin Beautiful lake clean-up. We went out near a dam and cleaned up lots of trash, even Alex and Benjamin got into it. There were volunteer divers pulling items out of the lake as well as hundreds of volunteers around the lake. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant by the lake and had a free lunch, got tee-shirts, and waited to see if we would win any doorprizes. Nope, no luck with that, but Emma's troop did win a prize for most unique item found. One of the moms found a small rainbow colored Buddha statue and that won the prize. Pretty cool considering all the people picking up trash. We found lots of bottles, chip bags, cans, bottle caps, a lawn chair, and Alex even found a tire rim. Geez! Why can't they put it in the garbage can that is 50 feet away!

Last night was a long night for Alex who woke up at 11 p.m. with a yucky stomach. He seems to be feeling pretty well this morning, so hopefully, he'll be back to school tomorrow. Somehow, Alex ended up with Aunt Jennie's stomach. I remember Jennie in the bathroom on MANY occasions!

Today is a big day for Benjamin. He is going without the pump for a day to try to stimulate hunger. His GI and occupational therapist want to see how he will respond, i.e. whether he will eat more by mouth. His OT is optimistic that he will eat when he is hungry. She said some kids refuse to eat even when they are hungry and will just hold out for the pump. So far, he's had a little juice, a strawberry, and some oatmeal. That's a reasonable start. We'll see how he does!

Oh, good luck with Benjamin's eating. Here's hoping to a big appetite for the little guy. :) Emma's soccer sounds so fun! Spencer is going to do soccer this fall for the first time. He's very excited. I hope Alex gets feeling well soon, too.

GO Benjamin go!!! We are so proud of you Emma, send some of your soccer stardust to Zack! Alex, sorry about you getting my tummy. If it makes you feel any better, it does appear I've grown out of that problem. Love to all. Aunt Jennie
