Benjamin the talker

Sean and I have been thoroughly enjoying Benjamin's talking these days. He has really stepped it up a notch. His sentences have become much lengthier, so it is fun to hear him express himself. He continues to need work on his pronoun usage, i.e. he says me instead of I most of the time, but he'll get there eventually.

A funny example...Lately, the kids have been playing hide and seek with Benjamin. Usually, Emma hides first and Benjamin counts, "1-2-3-4-5, here me come!" (Note: he says this with much giggling and excitement!) When it is Benjamin's turn to hide, he likes to use the spot recently vacated by Emma, although she doesn't think this is the best way to play hide and seek. If he does decide to find a new spot, he rarely waits for Emma to find him. He usually pops up and says, "Here me am!"

Other examples of his talking...
He was putting a pillow back on the couch and saw me watching. He patted the pillow and said, "This pillow belong here." Wow, that was the first time I heard him say belong. Also, when Sean was reading a book, Benjamin pointed out the dolphin and stated, "The dolphin belong in the water."

Last weekend, the kids were telling Grandma Mindy about their Halloween costumes. Alex was trying to make Grandma guess what he is going to be. His clue was that it is part of the body. She guessed several things, but didn't get it right. Then Alex ran into the other room to change into his costume. At this point, Benjamin started running around the room saying, "Assike be bones. Assike be bones." Grandma politely said that she hadn't heard anything when Alex came out in his scary skeleton costume.

Kenneth is going to be a skeleton, too! What a crack up. You've got another smartie on your hands - what a surprise. :) Can't wait to see you TOMORROW! Shauna arrives about 8:30pm and then we have to rent the car. We'll get there as soon as we can. I'll have my cell and we'll call you when we're en route. YAY!!!

That's great that Benjamin is talking more these days even if he doesn't have proper grammar yet! Love, Aunt Dude
