Doctors Appointments

Benjamin and Emma both had doctor appointments this week. We visited with Benjamin's urologist on Tuesday. He did a sonogram of Benjamin's urinary system. Everything looks about status quo which is good. The ureters are slightly dilated as they come out of the kidneys due to the "floppiness" of the ureters. The kidneys have grown a little which is also good. He anticipates doing surgery at the end of the year to close up 2 of the holes on Benjamin's tummy and reconnect the ureters to the bladder. It will be approximately a 6 hour surgery which sounds long to me. Benjamin's hospital stay would be 3-5 days. The neat thing is that it will be a brand new hospital as the Children's Hospital just moved to an all new location.

Emma had her well check yesterday. She continues growing like crazy. She is very solid at 46 3/4 inches and 58 pounds. By comparison, Alex was 47 inches and 47 1/2 pounds at age 6. The doctor asked her about her eating habits..."Do you eat broccoli? Yes. How about carrots? Yes. How about grasshoppers?" This drew a very confused look and then a little giggle from her. She found out the doctor's birthday is the same day as hers. We doubt he had a unicorn party, though. She also had an X-ray because she had an incident earlier in the week where she said she couldn't breathe because her heart hurt. They wanted to check and make sure nothing was pressing on her heart and lungs. It all looks normal. If it happens again, we're supposed to write down the details and let him know if it continues to happen. Then she can be evaluated further.

LOVE the new site! If you have picassa on your computer (a free photo organizer from google) it is REALLY easy to blog with your photos! I'm excited to check here now for updates on the Buckley clan.

This looks great Jules! I signed up for the update so I'll let you know if it works.

Can you have Emma teach Zack and George to eat broccoli and carrotts please? Thank you.

Any ideas yet on a target date for Benjamin's surgery? Let us know if you need us, we'll be there.

Love,

Aunt Jennie
