Third time's a charm?

It appears Benjamin has his third urinary tract infection in 2 months. He had one right after his first surgery which is what caused him to be in the hospital for 9 days of recovery. Then he got his second one (which was probably a continuation of the first one) the day before his second surgery. Today he started running a fever again. I called after lunch and got an appointment right away. His ears, throat, etc. look great, so they are running a urine culture. It seems pretty likely to me since everything else is clear. Plus he is acting just like the second time around, high fever plus vomiting. Poor guy! Dr. Cortez mentioned that he would continue to be susceptible to an infection due to the procedure to remove the stent. I guess it probably stirs things up inside. The doctor gave him an antibiotic shot plus an Rx for an oral antibiotic. He should be feeling a lot better by tomorrow. Tonight he actually fell asleep in my lap which NEVER happens.

Alex and Emma had good days though. In the morning (when Benjamin was still feeling decent), we went to a "jumpy place" and the kids jumped to their hearts' content. I let each of them bring a friend which worked really well so they didn't bother each other. After we got home, Alex's friend invited him to go to the movies and then I called Emma's friend again to see if they could watch her while I took Benjamin to the doctor. That was a good idea since we were at the doctor for about 2 hours plus it is quite a drive from our house.

Sean is on his way to Boulder, Colorado for a small conference. He should have had an easy time getting there, but ended up getting delayed in Dallas for several hours due to mechanical malfunctions. Now he will be arriving late tonight.

Tomorrow is Sean's birthday. Happy birthday, babe! We love you lots!

Here is Sean's cake, lovingly made by Emma and decorated by Alex and Emma. ;0

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEAN!!

Happy Birthday Sean-a-baby! Bummer he got delayed for so long in Dallas! Such a pretty cake, lots of pretty colors! I like your use of candles instead of trying to put 37 candles on the cake!

Sorry to hear about Benjamin getting another UTI, ugh! I hope the 3rd time is the charm for this tough guy! Love, Aunt Dude

Happy Birthday Sean! I always thought it was cool that our bdays are so close together.

Jules, I've been catching up on the site, love all the pictures. Alex's comment about the other kids at the science fair just having their hair brushed is priceless. And nice hippo bottoms. As for boys and matching clothes, Zack isn't very good at that either. He really likes to wear this one red shirt with a pair of red pants that are not a set so they totally clash. Oh well....

Glad to hear Benjamin was feeling better today (Tuesday).
