We had a fun adventure on Saturday. We took our annual trip to the strawberry patch. Within 5 minutes of arrival, Benjamin landed right in the middle of a large mud puddle. I was down the row with the other kids and looked back to find him sitting in the mud waving his muddy hands in the air saying, "Yucky, yucky!" He was not overly thrilled with strawberry picking at the beginning. After washing off the mud, Benjamin and I returned to the patch to try again. Grandma Mindy handed Benjamin several to put in the basket. Then he started to figure it out and began picking some. We picked about 5 pounds of berries and Grandma Mindy picked about 5 pounds. We figured we would put some in the freezer, so it would be OK to pick a lot. Besides, it's hard to stop yourself when you see beautiful red peeking out from behind the leaves.

Yummm...Strawberries
We had a picnic lunch while the kids tried to dodge flies and bees. Emma and Alex both go crazy the instant they hear anything buzzing around. It should be interesting for Emma at Girl Scout camp this summer. We brought Benjamin's feeding pump, so we fed him while we sat on the benches. I am always amazed at how well he sits there. It takes a little less than a 1/2 hour to feed him, but he is very patient even with goats and chickens running around (pretty good for a 2 year old, I think). As soon as the pump was done, he was off like a shot to the goat pen. He didn't agree that they were goats though. He kept calling them sheep. We also saw a few chickens and 4 donkeys. Benjamin was THRILLED! He LOVES animals and was giddy while he petted them. He kept flicking a goat's ear because he liked how it flopped. What fun!
Sunday, I made a homemade strawberry pie for the first time ever. It was really tasty since the strawberries were so fresh. It's like eating sunshine.

Yea for strawberries!! Congratulations on the strawberry pie. I love it when I make new things and they turn out...I like the analogy of tasting like sunshine. :)
I really miss going out to that old strawbery patch...It looks like you had a blast...enjoy some pie for me!
Oh,how I love strawberries! 5 lbs sounds yummy to me I just bought some at the store but I'm sure they won't taste as good as yours! Great pics. Looks like Benjamin just got a haircut!
