Happy Father's Day (one day late)

.
We hope all the dads had a nice Father's Day. I think Sean enjoyed his special day. The kids kicked it off with breakfast in bed. They came up with the idea and executed it on their own. They brought up Sean's favorite cereal, a glass of juice, a water bottle with milk, and a bouquet of flowers Emma had made. It was a very sweet surprise. Then, we headed out for some bowling. Everyone in the family got a few strikes including 4 of us in row in one frame. Grandma Mindy almost got beat by Benjamin (she blames it on the ball!). In the afternoon, Grandma Mindy gave Sean the best present, a piece of quiet! She took Alex and Emma over to her apartment complex to swim for the afternoon. Benjamin took a nap and I got a pedicure. Pretty good deal. We also gave Daddy a new picture collage. He's not sure if he will hang it at home or in his office. (Note: Emma is showing off her newly painted nails in the above picture.)

.
The kids did great at the swim meet on Saturday. Emma took over 10 seconds off her freestyle, primarily due to swimming the entire length without stopping. We were so proud of her! Later, she swam the backstroke for the first time ever. She got a little confused near the end when she bumped the sidewall and thought she was done. She said her goggles were fogged over and there was water in her ears, so she couldn't figure out where she was until she saw the corner. Then she finished it off. Great job! Alex continues to do well with 1 first, 2 seconds, 1 fourth and 1 eighth. He tried breaststroke for the first time this year and looked really nice. That is such a beautiful stroke when it is done well. I think he was pretty pleased with his times. The team we were swimming against was huge and really fast.
.
This week will be a fairly quiet one for Benjamin and me. Emma is at a Girl Scout day camp and Alex is at robotics camp. They were both looking forward to the camps and I think they'll really enjoy themselves.
.
We're trying to get our vacation plans ironed out. The Mississippi has really thrown a kink in the works. Send some of that rain/water down here! We could use it. We won't be able to have the 4th of July party at the river since it is flooded, but one of my cousins has graciously stepped in to fill the void. I'm sure it will be fun as my family always has a good time. We'll also be heading to the Wisconsin Dells for some fun with Sean's family.
.
Have a great week!
