Thanksgiving moments

Well, I'm another year older and wiser. My birthday was on Thanksgiving this year, so it was an extra special holiday for our family. We had cake and pie since that day included two separate celebrations. I even moved the Thanksgiving feast to earlier in the day, so we could accommodate lots of dessert eating. Benjamin did a very nice job eating that day. He actually ate a few bites of pink stuff and really liked the "brown stuff", aka sweet potato casserole. He seemed inspired to eat this weekend which was great. He also enjoyed drinking "egg not" (egg nog) with Daddy. It was fun to watch him lick his lips after drinking such a thick drink.
On Saturday, I took the kids to the Children Giving to Children Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Austin. I always enjoy this parade as near the end, the parade stops and all the kids take unwrapped toys out to trucks included throughout the parade. I heard on the news that the parade collected over 32,000 toys this year for needy children.Reading some of my friends blogs has inspired me to give thanks. Here are some things I am thankful for this year...
1. My caring husband who I love to spend time with after a long day
2. My wonderful children who make me smile (and pull my hair out) every day
3. Living so close to such wonderful health care - Benjamin's urologist is our favorite doctor ever and he is just down the road - I follow other children with similar issues and some of them have to travel hours to see their specialists
4. Sean's job especially in these difficult economic times - I am VERY blessed to be able to stay home with the kids
5. My sisters who I can talk to about anything and nothing
6. My parents who have put up with me for 38 years
7. Having my mother-in-law live so close by - we can always count on her when we need her and the kids truly enjoy seeing their grandma regularly
8. Living in a great city with so many family activities - we always have something fun to do
9. My friends who celebrate my happy times and share in the sad times
10. Cozy evenings by the fire in our warm, beautiful house
11. Access to many libraries and book stores - life would not be nearly as interesting without books
12. Good health
13. Progress in the eating arena for Benjamin - keep him in mind as he continues his journey toward eating like every one else
14. Listening to Emma read to her little brother
15. Emma's curly hair, Benjamin's long eyelashes, and Alex's big brown eyes
16. My secret chocolate stash
17. Hot showers in the morning
And the list could just go on and on...Take a moment and think about what is a blessing in your life. I'm sure the list would be quite long. Cherish what you have as we all have many blessings in our lives.

Sounds like the Buckely's had a great Thanksgiving and you had a good birthday. That's great news about Benjamin's interest in eating more, good timing during all the holiday hoopla with lots of yummy things to eat!

I'm also very thankful that you keep this blogsite up and running. With this and the family site we are all definitely closer then we would be without them. I love you mentioning that your thankful for you secret chocolate stash...reminds me I need to replenish mine. Love, Dude
