Big doings...

Hip hip hooray!!! Benjamin is potty trained! We started about 1 1/2 weeks ago because Sean mentioned that Benjamin was talking about underwear quite a bit. Fortunately, we had a day with absolutely nothing scheduled, so we gave it a shot. The first day was an adventure, but each day was progressively better. Now, he hasn't had any accidents in a few days. We are quite amazed and thrilled. We weren't sure how this was going to go due to all of Benjamin's urinary tract problems, i.e. we didn't know how long he could wait in between, etc. Happily, he regularly makes it at least 2 hours in between bathroom sessions. He loves his Kung Fu Panda and Scooby Doo underwear, although he has to work on calling it underwear rather than panties. I sense a little of Emma's influence in his vocabulary, don't you?

Alex had a big day yesterday. The regional science fair was in the morning/afternoon and the school talent show was in the evening. Alex did great at the science fair and received another first place ribbon. He was pretty pleased. Thanks again to everyone who supplied fingerprints for his project. It was worth it! Then he went on to wow everyone at the talent show with a great rendition of Fandango on the piano. He has been happily playing for anyone who calls lately. My mom and dad wanted to listen to him one night and since then he has played for 2 great grandmas, 2 grandmas, and both of my sisters. If you want to hear him play, give us a call and he'll happily comply.Emma and Sean had some fun daddy-daughter time yesterday. They attended the Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at UT. Emma participated in several activities including making a cotton ball catapult and a gum drop pyramid and driving a robot car. She was even on TV briefly as one of the stations was filming in the room they were in. Emma thinks she's a movie star now and does not want us to delete the news segment.

Emma's other fun news is that she passed her first timed math test. Each week, the school offers math tests for all the students. In order to pass, they have to get 100% of the problems correct which isn't an easy task. Congratulations to Emma!

P.S. Thank you for changing your site's background. This is the time of year when all of us who have to deal with snow and crappy winter weather begin to really hate it and we really get spring fever. Of course it doesn't help that Mother Nature teases us with a few unseasonably WARM days too. Love, Dude
