We hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. We kept busy with lots of Easter activities including an egg hunt, coloring eggs and making Easter cookies (i.e. sugar cookies in Easter shapes instead of Christmas shapes). As always, I got frustrated at the egg hunt, but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. This year, we opted for the neighborhood egg hunt, so they got to see their friends and kick around the soccer ball. On a better note, Emma made a beautiful butterfly cake for our Easter dessert. We got the idea off an M&M bag and it came out gorgeous!
On Monday, we went to a drive-thru wildlife ranch north of San Antonio. The night before we went, Benjamin was talking a big game about feeding the giraffes. We did see giraffes at the ranch, but weren't able to feed them. He seemed OK with that after he saw how big they were. We also saw about every horned deer/gazelle-like animal imaginable, bison, llamas, rhinos, camels, emus, ostriches, and some rare kind of donkey. We had a close encounter with an emu when one of them decided to stage a sneak attack and poke its head in my driver's side window unbeknownst to me. After a little screaming and hysterics, we managed to get the window closed. The next morning, Benjamin announced, "I do not like ostriches!" He is probably scarred for life, but I guess there's worse things to not like. At least, you don't encounter ostriches and emus in your daily life.
Lately, Benjamin has been telling us each day that he is a different kind of animal or object. About a month ago when he started this, he was a dog every day for about 2 weeks. The even funnier thing is that he doesn't actually act like the animal at all...no barking, crawling around on all fours or anything. He just is the animal. He has also been a cow, a duck, a big orange dinosaur and a horse. Then he moved on to objects. He was a pancake, a pizza and then our very favorite...a peanut butter and tomato sandwich with syrup on top. Later in the day, he decided to add a little lettuce as well. He was amazingly consistent in his "sandwichness""..he responded with the same combo several times that day. Would you be brave enough to try that combination?

The cake is amazing...I'm very impressed. It looks like you guys are having lots of fun!
I love the cake, too! How pretty! Very cool, Emma!
I love the cake Emma!! And no, Benjamin, I don't want to try your sandwich combo. I'll stick to the safer variety of PBJ that my boys live on here. Love from Aunt Jennie.
Hey, I like peanut butter and tomato sandwichs. Not too sure about the syrup.
