Over the weekend, we attended a Girl Scout event at the new art museum in Austin. We did a few crafts and looked at the artwork. Alex was not impressed by the modern and contemporary art section. After looking at a few of the pieces, he asked, "Were these painted by cats or something?" He could not figure out why they were considered art and thought he could paint something just as nice.
The highlight of the trip was the "noodle" art outside the museum. You can walk through the noodles and enjoy the light filtering through or run through and let them hit you in the face. I'm sure you can figure out which option the kids chose.Last night, Emma performed in her 2nd grade musical. She was a great foxy fox! She stepped right up to the microphone and said her lines very clearly. The musical was pretty cute. It was about the circle of life for an acorn and featured many nuts and animals. The funniest song was one where the kids sang, "We're nuts! We're nuts! We're all a little nuts!" That is definitely true!

The noodles look awesome! I can't believe they didn't break. They must not be REAL noodles. They sure look like it, though. Alex is really looking grown up.
Whoa, the noodles part of the museum I would have liked best too. Yeah, were they really real?
Way to Go Emma you foxy lady!
Love, Aunt Dude
The "noodles" were actually rubber tubes, but they definitely look like spaghetti. The only problem was when the kids decided they wanted to swing on them like someone they saw on them when we were walking up to it. When we got up there, we saw a big sign that said no swinging, but the kids didn't want to listen to that. They calmed down eventually...
I love Alex's comment about the cats doing the painting, priceless!
Yeah, I also loved the comment/observation Alex made about the artwork. So many of us Non-Artists often wonder why we can't scribble or splatter paint on a canvas and call it art and make a fast million or even a few thousand would be great!
