We've been enjoying our crazy spring weather. For the most part, it has been very mild with temperatures in the 70s, but then we have to throw in a few almost record breaking hot days and a few days in the 40s. I'm not ready for the record breaking hot days yet, but they're coming. We're worried it's going to be an extremely hot summer due to the lack of rain around here. Austin is in an extreme drought situation, so that does not bode well for the summer. We did have a brief storm last week that brought some hail to the area. Not welcome for roofs and cars, but always welcome by the kids for hail hunting in the back yard...Last week, Emma had her first field trip of the school year. Benjamin and I were able to attend, so fun was had by all. Her class went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The kids sketched a pond, looked at sculptures amongst the flowers, and viewed beautiful paper sculpture (see the third and fourth pictures below - it is 3D paper, not a painting). I was very impressed with Emma's teacher and how well she kept the class under control. The kids had a nice time although the trip was cut short by another brief rain. Note: the first 4 pics were taken by Emma. Doesn't she do a nice job?

How incredibly fun! I love the tie-dye shirts. Did they make those as a class before they went? Emma is a good picture-taker.
Her class did make the shirts. The teacher gave them all rubber bands and let them do their own pattern. They were all quite proud of their designs.
Emma is quite the photographer; very nice photos.... Glad you and Benjamin were able to go on the fieldtrip. Missing you at the ballpark.
