What a fun holiday! The kids had a ball carving pumpkins, going trick-or-treating and visiting with friends.
Friday morning, Benjamin had a costume parade and party at preschool. It was great to see all the little kids dressed up and listen to Halloween songs. For their party snack, the kids made spiders out of brownies and pretzels. Very cute.On Friday, we cleaned and carved our jack o'lanterns. When we cut open Alex's pumpkin, he was thrilled to find some of the seeds sprouted. We now have pumpkin plants growing in a pot that Benjamin loves to (over)water. It is fun to see them since they grow an inch or two a day.
Saturday was the big day. We joined some of our friends for a potluck dinner and then lots of candy fun. It was nice to eat a real dinner rather than slam some pizza and rush off for trick or treating. Benjamin did a great job keeping up after we decided to bring his stroller. He went up to just about every house that the big kids went to even though he was swaying on his feet by the end. Alex and his friends came up with the brilliant idea of telling everyone Merry Christmas instead of Happy Halloween and then they sang Christmas carols. They thought they were hilarious and giggled all night. Emma sidled up to me at one point and said, "Mom, they are embarrassing me." That won't be the last time, Emma! Alex's costume was a hit. Only one person guessed even close to what he was. She guessed he was a theater, so he figured that was good enough - you should try the floor of a movie theater costume some year. Pretty cheap, easy and fun to make, plus you can get rid of lots of old candy. Benjamin cracked me up because he insisted his mask should go on upside down. He thought he looked much scarier that way. He must like frowns because some of his pumpkin projects this month also had frowns.
Quote of the week from Benjamin - completely out of the blue: "Do weasels have shadows?" Let your mind think on that one for awhile...

What great Halloween costumes! And I LOVE Benjamin's quote! :)
What fun updates! I love the costumes and the jack-o-lanterns. What a fun time of year.
I told Joe about Benjamin's question of the day and he was also very confused and amused by it! What a riot! Sounds like Halloween was quite a hit in the Buckley household this year! Great costumes too! Benjamin will probably be "big" bones when he gets bigger too! Love, Dude
