Zoo time

Emma had a fun opportunity to spend the night at the San Antonio Zoo in October. She went down with several Girl Scouts and got to visit some of the animals after the zoo was closed. They watched a special bird presentation and she even came home with her own owl poop. Lovely!

Benjamin has been asking about going to the zoo for some time, so the boys and I met Emma at the zoo on Sunday morning. We've been down there several times and always enjoy the visit. Our highlight this time was watching the massive python move around its enclosure. Usually, the giant snakes are asleep, so that was really interesting. Alex's favorite part was the butterfly house. One of the zookeepers showed Alex how to "hold" a butterfly, so he was busy getting them to sit on him.

The weather was absolutely perfect. October weather is what I live for in Texas. The sky turns such a beautiful shade of blue with no clouds and temps are in the 70s. Ahhhh, nice.

Also, I want to tell Emma congratulations on reaching her reading goal at school. She participated in the readers' walk and got a gold medal. Keep up the good work!

Way to go Emma! Keep up the good work! Grandma Hested must be proud of all these avid reader grandkids she has!

Next time Alex is at the cabin with Papaw they will have to check out the Bellevue Butterfly garden!

Love, Dude
