Christmas in February - Part 2

After Sean's wrist adventure, he decided to test out how it was doing by driving us to my parents' house in Chicago in the midst of fairly heavy snow. When we left his parents' house, the forecast said 1-3 inches of snow. This is what we got instead...During our stay in Chicago, we met our newest nephew, Henry. What a cutie. All of us spent a lot of time holding and cuddling him. I'm sure he didn't mind. We enjoyed another Christmas dinner with my family and more present opening. The kids probably think this is a great way to celebrate Christmas...they opened presents 3 times this year instead of all at once. My mom had a little doctor adventure of her own while we were there as her gallbladder kept acting up. Unfortunately, that meant my mom didn't feel well enough for our trip to downtown Chicago. We went to the Field Museum of Natural History. One of the interesting things at the museum is the most complete T Rex skeleton in the world. Benjamin wasn't sure why it was just bones. After viewing the skeleton, we went into a hall with lots of animals on display in various habitats. These animals REALLY confused Benjamin. He kept asking, "Is that one alive?" Then we would reply, "No, it's dead." This went on for quite a while and must have made an impression. Later in the day, we asked him where we went and he replied, "We went to the museum. It had lots of dead animals." Emma and I also went to the American Girls Store so Emma could pick out a doll courtesy of Grandma Hested. She chose a beautiful doll dressed in clothing from 1775. Interestingly, she also liked the Julie doll from 1974.

We had a great time visiting with you guys! Joe and I had forgotten how much your kids LOVE to play games!

Emma commented once that she couldn't believe that I was a Mom now. She eventually said it was because I used to have more time to play games with them but now I had to take care of Henry.

Love, Dude

great updates Jules. The dead animals comment is classic. I'm waiting for Joe to come out of eye surgery. Playing with the new phone.
