Summer 2014 Update

After a very long break from blogging, I decided I should probably get back to it for awhile. We have some big things coming up in the near future and I want to make sure everyone feels like know what's going on....

Summer is over, at least according to the school calendar. We enjoyed a nice break hanging out in southern California.

Alex's favorite summer event was going to cross country (XC) camp in Santa Barbara. His team stayed in the dorms at University of California - Santa Barbara.  He ran twice a day every day all week long. That doesn't sound like my idea of fun, but he LOVED it. They did a couple of beach runs and did "ice baths" in the ocean. You can't beat the scenery!

Emma and I took a couple of field trips to museums around LA. We saw the special Pompeii exhibit at the California Science Center. It was pretty fascinating. We also visited the Gamble House in Pasadena. It was built in the early 1900s for the Gamble family of Procter and Gamble.

Benjamin was a busy guy as well. He went to Cub Scout camp in July and had a ball. His favorite activity was archery. He shot 4 bulls-eyes for the week. He survived the heat and came home thoroughly dirty every day.

We also had a great visit with the Buckley family in June. They decided to make their first trip to see where we live. They made the most of their trip by traveling around LA, going to San Diego and driving up to San Francisco. We enjoyed playing on the beach with them, going to the Reagan Presidential Library and spending the day at Disneyland.
