Benjamin had a pretty good night last night. He slept well and tolerated being checked for various vitals, etc. with little fussing. His blood pressure was somewhat elevated during the night, so the nurse called Dr. Cortez at 1 a.m. He wasn't as concerned and wanted to see how it looked this morning. It's in a little better range today.
Benjamin received his first formula feed at noon today and seems to be tolerating it well. He will receive half strength feeds for a little while and then go to full strength. They also are starting to remove some of his pain medications. He has had an epidural since the surgery. It was just shut off at 2 p.m. We're a little anxious to see how he responds to it. Hopefully, the other pain meds will keep everything in check the way they have been.
He actually played with a few of his toys today and almost smiled a few times. Currently, he is holding a ball and his blanket. He won't let go of either one.
Thanks for checking on him!
Love,
Julie

Hope everything goes well as they dial down the epidural and dial up the formula feedings. We love all of you and can't stop thinking about the little guy.
Love, Aunt Jennie
p.s. No fair talking about Girl Scout cookies. Now I want some!
He must be getting hungry after so many days not eating. I hope everything continues to progress smoothly. Are they figuring his ureters (sp?) are functioning properly so far? Has he peed? Do they have a cathader in?
