Update from Benjamin's Home Away From Home

Benjamin slept very solidly all night. I figured he would since he refused to take a nap all day yesterday. Sean said he was out like a light at about 9 and didn't wake up until about 8 this morning. That made for a reasonable night for Sean as well.

Dr. Cortez stopped by to check on him yesterday afternoon and said he looks like he is recovering nicely. Since Benjamin has had no fever, he will likely only need to be here for another day or two (that was as of yesterday), so we're hopeful he'll be home pretty soon. The doctor wants to make sure Benjamin's infection is cleared up as much as possible with IV antibiotics. Unfortunately, Benjamin's IV went bad yesterday, so they had to place a new one to deliver those antibiotics.

Yesterday evening, Benjamin got to go for a wagon ride. I had sent out several APBs to find a wagon and finally the child life specialist managed to locate one somewhere. Sean took him to the playroom for a little while and then Benjamin directed a stroll for almost 30 minutes. I think the ride perked him up a little bit. I'm sure we'll be roaming the halls again today.

That's all for now. I'll be here tonight assuming he doesn't go home today. We may try to bring the kids down this afternoon for a brief visit. They miss the little guy.

Glad Benjamin got a wagon yesterday and was able to cruise around the hospital. I am sure that makes him feel better. Hopefully he will have a good day and be released from the hospital soon. Thanks for the update. Hang in there.
